Cat Island offers far more than what you’ll find within the resort, with natural landmarks and cultural sites spread across the island—each worth exploring at your own pace. Here are a few of our favorites, along with approximate travel times from Curly’s Beach Resort:
The Hermitage, known as Mt. Alvernia & locally called “Como Hill”, is about a 45-minute drive and sits at the highest point in the Bahamas. This hand-crafted stone monastery, built by Father Jerome in the 1930s, offers both historical significance and sweeping panoramic views.
Closer to home, about 15 minutes away in Tea Bay, you’ll find the Bat Caves and the Cat Island Heroes Wall—a combination of natural exploration and cultural tribute.
For something more off the beaten path, the Cat Island Healing Pond is roughly an hour’s drive south and is known locally for its reputed healing properties.
Snorkeling around Cat Island is also a worthwhile experience, with clear waters and vibrant marine life. Resources like Discover Bahamas provide helpful overviews if you’d like to plan a day around it.
While we don’t yet operate guided tours directly, we’re always happy to point you in the right direction so you can explore the island with ease.
